Maxine Otway

Maxine Martha Otway (née Crabbe; (1937-02-27)27 February 1937 – 23 November 2020(2020-11-23) (aged 83)) was a resident of Thunder Bay and later of Prince George, British Columbia, a daughter of Matthew Crabbe and Marie Josephine Crabbe (née Vander Kaa) and a granddaughter of the Fort William machinist Paul Vander Kaa.

Life

Maxine Martha Crabbe was born on 27 February 1937, a daughter of Matthew Crabbe (1908–1961) and Marie Josephine Crabbe (née Vander Kaa, 1907–1987). On 11 October 1957 she married Leonard Gilbert Otway; the marriage was announced, with a photograph, in the Fort William Daily Times-Journal on 22 October 1957. Leonard Otway was associated with Darling's Service Station in Fort William, where he was photographed for the same newspaper in February and May 1955. The couple had a son, Glen David Otway, born on 17 August 1958. Maxine herself had earlier been photographed at a cheque presentation reported in January 1955. Her sisters were Pauline Freamo, Constance "Connie" Sambray, and Edith "Edie" Jenkins.

Death

Maxine was living as of the death of her sister Pauline on 25 December 2011, when she was listed among Pauline's survivors as "Maxine (Len) Otway". She died on 23 November 2020 in Prince George, British Columbia, in the care of the Fraserview Crematorium. She thereby predeceased her sisters Connie (died 28 March 2021) and Edith (died 2022), both of whose obituaries list Maxine among the deceased.
