Mary Anne Shepherd Todd (née Cook) (c. 1872 – 19 December 1956) was a pioneer resident of Oliver Township, in the Thunder Bay District of Ontario, brought to the district as an infant by her settler parents.[1]
Early life
- Born about 1872 at Weston, Ontario.
- Daughter of Henry Shepherd Cook, recorded in the notice as Harry Cook, and his wife, early pioneers of the district.
- Brought to the district by her parents at the age of three months.
- The family settled in Oliver Township on the John Street Road, where the family home remained thereafter.

- Married Arthur Todd in 1890, in the first St. James Anglican Church.

Death
- Died on the afternoon of Wednesday 19 December 1956, aged 84.
- Funeral at St. James Anglican Church; interment in the church cemetery.
- A photograph accompanied the notice of her death.
Obituary
Her death was reported on the front page of the Port Arthur News-Chronicle of 20 December 1956:[1]
Mrs Mary Anne Shepherd Todd, 84, died Wednesday afternoon. Born at Weston, Ont, daughter of Mr and Mrs Harry Cook [Henry Shepherd Cook], early pioneers here, who brought their daughter when she was three months old. They settled in Olvier township on the John Street Road where the family home has been ever since. Married in 1890 in the first St James Anglican church to the late Arthur Todd who died in 1940. Two sons, Henry, 221 Prospect Ave; Earl at home; four daughters, Mary, Mrs George Hinchey; Frances, Mrs George W. Ellett, Murillo; Edith, Mrs J.L. Shearer, TAber Alberta; Hazel, Mrs E.J. Morgan, 2641 Isabella St. Brother Frank Cook, Oliver township. Predecased by brothers George in 1947 and John in 1955. St James church and cemetery.
Notes
It is not established whether her son Henry is the Henry Todd who married Edith Rollerson in 1961.
Her brother John, who died in 1955, is not the John Cook whose Port Arthur estate was probated in 1928.
