Mary A. Vander Kaa
Mary Amelia Vander Kaa (née Beyer; 1874 – 1961) was an early resident of Fort William and the wife of the machinist Paul Vander Kaa.
Life
Mary Amelia Vander Kaa, née Beyer, was born in 1874. On 24 December 1900 she married Paul Vander Kaa (1866–1943), a machinist in Fort William who had been born in the Dutch East Indies, at St. Luke's Church.[1] In 1906 the couple had a brick home built in the city, where they lived together for many decades.[2]
The couple had at least two children: William Stavers van der Kaa (1901–1967) and Marie Josephine Crabbe (1907–1987). Through their daughter Marie Josephine, their descendants include the Fort William businesswoman Constance "Connie" Sambray (1938–2021).[3]
Death
Mary A. Vander Kaa died in 1961 and is buried at Mountain View Cemetery in Thunder Bay.[4]
