J. J. Vickers was a pioneer settler in the Thunder Bay region who first arrived in July 1859.[1]
Early presence in Thunder Bay
- Arrived in the Thunder Bay area for the first time in July 1859.[1]
- His experiences were recorded in a diary, from which his son A. A. Vickers later drew material for a presentation on treaty-making with Indigenous peoples, delivered at a special meeting of the Thunder Bay Historical Society.[1]
Community involvement
- Named among interested parties in Toronto and below who were solicited to subscribe financially to the founding of a newspaper in Fort William, alongside Jno. Leys, P. J. Brown, Wells, and others.[2]
