Duncan McKellar (born 12 July 1890) was a Canadian soldier who enlisted at Fort William and served in the First World War.[1]
Early life
McKellar was born at Hubbell, Houghton County, United States on 12 July 1890.[1]
Service
McKellar enlisted at Fort William in the Canadian Expeditionary Force, 94th Overseas Battalion (regimental number 198841).[1]
Attestation
On enlistment, his trade was given as railroad man; his next of kin was recorded as his mother, Mrs. Catherine McKellar, of 1912 North 14th St., Superior, Wis, USA.[1]

Captain Duncan McKellar arrived at Fort William in 1863, when he and his family relocated from the south shore to join the small settlement then centred on the Hudson's Bay Company post and the mission of the Reverend Fathers Choni and Du Ranquet.[2] Not all of the family crossed at once; some members came first and were joined by the remainder some time later.[3]
Among his family was his daughter Miss Kate McKellar, who later married F. C. Perry and became well known in the community as a schoolteacher, church worker, and president of the West Algoma Local Council of Women.[3]
