Denis Deschamps, also known as Denys, was a mixed-ancestry guide of the Deschamps family, noted as among the best on the Nipigon River.[1]

Life

  • Listed as "French & Indian" on the 1871 census.
  • By 1887 was living on the Lake Helen Reserve and was among the best guides in the Nipigon River region.
  • Married a woman of the Fort William Band in about 1888 or 1889, with whom he had children.
