David Arges, also known as Dave (3 January 1941 – 24 June 2024 (aged 83)), was a General Motors worker and a great-grandson of the Port Arthur locomotive engineer Peter L'Heureux.[1]
Life
David Arges was born on 3 January 1941, the son of Bernard and Olive Arges; through his mother he was a great-grandson of Peter L'Heureux, and as a boy appeared with four generations of the family in a 1950 newspaper photograph marking his great-grandfather's ninety-fifth birthday.[2] He grew up on Rupert Street in Thunder Bay and spent time at the family camp at McKenzie Beach. He worked for General Motors for thirty-seven years.[1]
He married Peggy, with whom he had two sons, Christopher and Terry, and a grandson, Caleb. He remained proud of his Thunder Bay roots and enjoyed time at the cottage there. He died on 24 June 2024 at Lakeridge Health in Oshawa, predeceased by his brother Gordon Arges.[1]
