He was survived by his wife Nancy, his daughter Kristine and her husband Phil, and his daughter-in-law Joni and her partner Bert Viljakainen. His family included step-children Tracey Dosa and Rob, who was married to Ally. He left behind nine grandchildren: Adam Czinkota, Kevin and his partner Lauren Payette, Whitney and her partner Derek Dallaire, Lauren and her partner Ben Daniar, Ashley and her husband Wade, Kylee, Brianne Dosa, Jordan Arnold, and Hannah Russell. He was also survived by his brother Gerd and sister-in-law Heidi. He was predeceased by his son Bernie Schnieders, the mother of his children Lillian Schnieders, his brother Bernhard Schnieders, and his parents.[1]
He passed away on September 3, 2015, at the T.B.R.H.S.C. A memorial service was conducted by Rev. Hubert Den Draak on September 10, 2015, at the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions were directed to Lakehead University for an award named in honor of his late son.[1]
