Jean Baptiste Deschamps was a French fur-trade employee at Fort William and the progenitor of the mixed-ancestry Deschamps family of the Lake Superior north shore.[1]
Life
- A French Canadian from Lower Canada who worked at Fort William.
- Married a Cree woman, with whom he had three children, whose mixed-ancestry descendants continued to appear in the Nipigon records.
