James Bruce Minore was a sociologist who was founding director of the Centre for Rural and Northern Health Research at Lakehead University and Professor Emeritus of Sociology there. He was known as Bruce.[1]
Career and death
Minore was a researcher, teacher and mentor whose work shaped rural and remote health in Northwestern Ontario, Canada and internationally. As founding director of the Centre for Rural and Northern Health Research at Lakehead University he left a lasting influence on collaborators. He died suddenly in his 73rd year in 2018 and was cremated, with a private interment to follow in his hometown of Hamilton, Ontario; a celebration of life was held at the Avila Centre at Lakehead on 11 July, and donations were suggested to the research centre or the university.[1]
His memorial names him as uncle of Deborah (with Scott) and Kimberley (with Paul), great-uncle of Kelly (with Tanner), Marisa and Makena, and brother-in-law of Sandy of Ottawa. His parents John and Mildred and his brother Robert died before him.[1]
