J. D. McKenzie was the district manager of the Hudson's Bay Company in the Thunder Bay region.[1]

- Attended the unveiling ceremony at Thunder Bay alongside N. M. W. J. McKenzie, representing the Hudson's Bay Company at the request of fur trade commissioner N. H. Bacon of Montreal, who wired regretting he could not attend in person.[1]
- Stood on the platform at the unveiling alongside Mayor Murphy, Peter McKellar, Don McKellar, Rev. J. Dyke, F. S. Wiley, John King, and N. M. W. J. McKenzie.[2]
