Bruce Hyer
Bruce Tolhurst Hyer (born August 6, 1946) is a Canadian politician, businessman, and ecologist. He is the former deputy leader of the Green Party of Canada and the former Member of Parliament for Thunder Bay—Superior North. Hyer was elected in the 2008 federal election, and re-elected with a wider margin in the 2011 federal election; on both occasions while standing for the New Democratic Party.

Bruce Tolhurst Hyer (born August 6, 1946 in Hartford, Connecticut) moved to Thunder Bay in 1978, where he started a retail outdoor and camera store called WildWaters Wilderness Shop. He married Margaret Wanlin in 1993, and their son Michael was born in 1995. From the beginning of his time in Canada, Hyer worked as a biologist and entrepreneur in the Thunder Bay area, operating an ecotourist company with offices in Thunder Bay and Armstrong, and headed the North of Superior Tourism Board for many years. He received a Master of Science degree in Forestry from Lakehead University in 1997, and later served as the Member of Parliament for Thunder Bay—Superior North from 2008 to 2015.
