- Printed with the nickname or motto: BUT OH! FELL DEATH'S UNTIMELY FROST, THAT NIPT MY FLOWER SAE EARLY.
- In memoriam: A page headed "In Memoriam" with his portrait and the name Thomas Neale, and a line from Robert Burns on early death, appears in the 1966 Lion's Roar (p. 10). The page dates the notice in the yearbook, not his death.[7]
Death
His death on 19 April 1966 in Fort William is recorded in the Fort William Daily Times-Journal death index (entry dated 20 April 1966).[8]
The yearbook student (known as Tom) and the death-index entry are treated as one person because the name matches, the age fits (born about 1948, so about 14 in Grade 9 in 1962) and the 1966 yearbook carries an "In Memoriam" page for a student named Thomas Neale.
