Stephen Black (31 March 1927 – 12 June 2008 (aged 81)) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who played in the National Hockey League with the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Black Hawks between 1949 and 1951. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1946 to 1954, was spent in the minor leagues. Black won the Stanley Cup with Detroit in 1950.[1][2]
Career
Black played five years of junior hockey for the Port Arthur Flyers of the Thunder Bay Junior Hockey League, making two trips to the Memorial Cup Tournament before turning professional. He was listed at 6'0" (183 cm) and 185 lb (84 kg); his final professional season was 1953–54 with the Calgary Stampeders of the senior Western Hockey League.[3]
Personal life
Black married Josie Carso.[4][5][6]
