Stephen Mate (20 August 1911 – 17 April 1944 (aged 32)) was a Canadian soldier who enlisted at Port Arthur in the General List. Mate died on active service during the Second World War.[1]
Early life
Mate was born at Kurd, Tolna, M. on 20 August 1911, the son of Frank Mate and Marie Mate.[1]
Service
Mate enlisted at Port Arthur and served as a lieutenant (service number 84000) in the Army, General List.[1]
Death
Mate died of air crash on 17 April 1944, aged 32. He is commemorated at Newquay (Fairpark) Cemetery (grave reference C. of E. plot. Cons. Grave 686.).[1]
