Southern Ventures Inc.
Appearance
Southern Ventures Inc. was an Alabama-based venture capital firm, four years old in 1998, with Canadian headquarters in Sooke, British Columbia.[1]
Role in Big Thunder
In January 1998 it was the successful bidder for the dormant Big Thunder Sports Park, provided it could agree a purchase with the province. The only other bidders were Ward Bond and a group of investors. Spokesman David Parsons said the firm wanted Big Thunder to "resume its original mandate" as a national Nordic training centre, keeping the 51 km of trails and adding some hotels or condominiums. The deal reportedly fell through in August 1998.[1] See Big Thunder.
