Rosetta Agnes "Rose" Cooke (nee True) (1884 - 1961) PZTW-V9X was a member of the True Family. She emigrated from Wales to Canada. She is the mother of Lucy Currie.
Early life
Rose was born on 22 July 1884 on South Parade, Maesteg, to Henry True (1839 - 1910) and Ann White (1843 - 1906).[1] Her sister was Bessie Griffiths, grandmother of Dan Griffiths.

At the 1901 census she was 17 and living with her parents at 8 South Parade, along with two boarders. One of them was John Cooke, then 22 and working at a colliery, whom she married the following year.[1]
Marriage and family

She married John Cooke on 4 August 1902, at age 19. Their wedding photograph (File:JohnCookeWedding.jpg) was taken at the side of Fonthill House, beside her father's greenhouse on the slope behind South Parade.[2]
With him she had five daughters and one son over a period of 23 years, from 1903 (age 19) to 1926 (age 42).
Following the Senghenydd colliery disaster of October 1913, she moved with her husband and children to the newly incorporated town of Transcona, near Winnipeg, Manitoba. (Since 1972 Transcona is a ward of Winnipeg.) She lived in Transcona for the rest of her life.
Her four eldest children were born in Maesteg, Wales, and her two youngest in Canada after the emigration — a gap of nearly eight years separating the two halves of the family.
Later life
Grandma Cooke would send us to the store and we always had to remember to bring exact change back. Grandma Cooke had borne 6 children and was a bit weary and unwell. She lived with Aunt Eva after Grandpa Cooke died.
— Vivian Shannon, 2020
She was widowed on 18 May 1950, when John Cooke died in Winnipeg, and lived afterwards with her eldest daughter Eva.
