Robert MacPhail (24 August 1955 – 27 June 2024 (aged 68)) was a Geraldton-born owner of a trucking company and pipeline worker who lived in Thunder Bay.[1][2]
Life and family
Robert MacPhail, known as Robbo, was born in Geraldton, Ontario, on August 24, 1955. He spent his career as the owner and operator of Rob MacPhail Trucking and also worked in the mainline pipeline construction industry.[1]
In his youth, he played as a goalie for the Geraldton Goldminers and was a pitcher for the Silver Nugget Saints fastball team. He was an avid golfer who played at Kenogamisis Golf Club and Chapples Golf Course. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at his family camp on Wild Goose Lake.[1]
He was survived by his wife of 48 years, Ginette, and his sons Andre and Robert, along with daughters-in-law Lauri and Lindsay. His grandchildren included Taylor, Ashton, Hudson, and Harper. His surviving siblings were Neil MacPhail, Debbie Turner, Doug MacPhail, and Mark MacPhail, joined by their spouses Elaine, Les, and Rae. He was also survived by his in-laws Roly Poulin, Pat, Andre Poulin, Linda, Gilles Poulin, Pam, Serge Poulin, Tammy, Isabelle Karpa, and Sylvie Goulet and Gates. He was predeceased by his parents, Archie and Theresa, and his siblings Donny MacPhail and Patricia Shewchuk, though their spouses Paulanne and Jerry survived him.[1]
He died in Thunder Bay on June 27, 2024. A celebration of life was scheduled for August 10, 2024, at the family camp on Wild Goose Lake. Arrangements were handled through Northwest Funeral Alternative.[1]
- Possibly the same as Robert MacPhail (hockey player), a player of the 2005 Thunder Bay Bombers (from the Hall of Fame team roster); the name is identical and the place fits, but too little is shared to merge the pages.[3]
