Lakehead Technical Institute curling

From thunderbay.wiki

Curling was inaugurated at the Lakehead Technical Institute in the 1950–51 school year, taking the place of bowling.[1]

1950–51 season

The management of the Port Arthur Curling Club let the school use its new rink every Wednesday from four to six p.m. Six experienced curlers skipped the school's rinks, twenty-four students took part, and the rinks played each other six times; Jim Delaney's rink won the school championship and was to meet an all-star staff rink. A school rink also played Port Arthur's representative to the Northwestern Ontario bonspiel, losing 9–8.[1]
