John Westad (2 August 1917 – 2 March 1945 (aged 27)) was a Canadian soldier who served in Thunder Bay's Lake Superior Regiment. Westad died on active service during the Second World War.[1]
Early life
Westad was born at Molde on 2 August 1917, the son of Hans Westad and Johanna Westad.[1]
Service
Westad enlisted at Grand Prairie and served as a private (service number M/56260) in the Army, Lake Superior Regiment ((Motor), R).[1]
Death
Westad was killed in action on 2 March 1945, aged 27. He is commemorated at Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery (grave reference XXI. F. 5.).[1]
