John Sawchuk (23 August 1923 – 6 September 1944 (aged 21)) was a Canadian soldier who enlisted at Fort William in the The Royal Canadian Regiment. Sawchuk died on active service during the Second World War.[1]
Early life
Sawchuk was born on 23 August 1923, the son of Metro Arthur Sawchuk and Katherina Sawchuk.[1]
Service
Sawchuk enlisted at Fort William and served as a private (service number H/10802) in the Army, The Royal Canadian Regiment.[1]
Death
Sawchuk was killed in action on 6 September 1944, aged 21. He is commemorated at Coriano Ridge War Cemetery (grave reference I, B, 9.).[1]
