John McKinnon was a resident of Thunder Bay and church elder nominated in 1873.

- Present at a meeting held at Oliver, Davidson & Co.'s hall on 20 January 1879, alongside Peter McKellar, John McKellar, W. I. Connelly, C. N. Black, W. C. Kennedy, Neil McDougall, A. McLaren, and John McLaulin.[1]
- Nominated for the eldership at a church session on 2 March 1873, alongside Benjamin Sinclair, Sr., Robert Maitland, James Craig, William Blackwood, and John Bennie.[2]
