John Donald McDonell ((1921-08-21)21 August 1921 – 16 May 1943(1943-05-16) (aged 21)) was a Canadian soldier from the Thunder Bay district in the Royal Canadian Air Force. McDonell died on active service during the Second World War.[1]

Early life

McDonell was born at Hazelton on 21 August 1921, the son of Alexander Roy McDonell and Nellie Genevieve McDonell.[1]

Service

McDonell enlisted at Vancouver and served as a flying officer (service number J/13408) in the Air Force, Royal Canadian Air Force.[1]

Death

McDonell died of his plane flew into a hill and exploded on 16 May 1943, aged 21. He is commemorated at Inverness (Tomnahurich) Cemetery (grave reference Sec. Z.6. Class 7. Grave 8.).[1]
