James Marcell (c. 1877 – (1959-12-06)6 December 1959) was a resident of Fort William, Ontario, and later of Sioux Lookout, and a son of the carpenter and trapper George Marcell and of Annie Jane Marcell.[1][2]

Early life

Family

  • Living at Sioux Lookout in March 1956, when he was named as one of two surviving sons in his mother's obituary; his brother Charles Marcell was then at Vancouver.[2]

Death

  • Died 6 December 1959, the place of death being recorded as Sioux Lookout.[1]

Identification

The identification with the son named in the 1956 obituary rests on three points. His recorded birth year of about 1877 follows immediately on his parents' marriage at Fort William in 1875. His place of death is recorded as Sioux Lookout, the residence given for the son in the obituary three years earlier, and Sioux Lookout is an unusual residence in the Fort William death index. Marcell is a small Fort William family and no second James Marcell appears in the indexed record of the period.
