Iris Elsie Sidlar (née Slyk; 1929 – 18 June 2020) was a Thunder Bay woman, born in Fort William to John Slyk[1] and Pauline Slyk.[2][3]
She married Orist Sidlar, with whom she remained until his death in 1996.[3][4] She was a keen gardener, devoted to her flower gardens, and enjoyed cross-country skiing with her cousin Helen Lavender.[3] She died peacefully in her sleep on 18 June 2020, having latterly been cared for at Pinewood Court.[3]
Family
Iris and Orist Sidlar had two children, Jim (married to Pat) and Sue, and two grandchildren, Kevin Sidlar and Kate.[3] Her husband's father, John Sidlar (1900–1979),[5] had emigrated to Manitoba together with his own father, Nykola Sidlar,[6] settling in the Rossburn district of the Manitoba Prairies.
