Ina Campbell (née Korpela; June 19, 1921 – February 20, 2014) was a longtime resident of Thunder Bay, Ontario (formerly Port Arthur area).[1]
Biography
- Born June 19, 1921, in Minnesota.[1]
- Moved to Port Arthur with her family at a young age.[1]
- Married Allan Oikonen (1917 - 1962), a partner in Oikonen's Taxi Business. They had two children, Ron and Dianne.[1]
- After Allan's death, she later married Norman Campbell.[1]
- Lifelong member of Bethel Lutheran Church and was especially proud of her Finnish heritage.[1]
- Avid curler; was on the winning team in the 1960 Dominion Diamond Championships.[1]
- Known for her love of family, friends, numerous "stray pets," and her garden. She was a lady with much "sisu".[1]
- Passed away on February 20, 2014, at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre at the age of 92. Cremation took place and a Celebration of Life was held on May 10, 2014, at Harbourview Funeral Centre.[1]

- Son: Ron (Donna) Oikonen, longtime Trustee of the Lakehead District School Board (first elected in 1988 and served for decades, including as Chair).[1][2]
- Grandchildren: Tracy (Greg) Hill, Allan Oikonen, Arron Oikonen.[1]
- Great-grandchildren: Brandon, Matthew, Carter, Tanner, Cooper, and Megan.[1]
