Captain H. E. Knobel was an adventurer and friend of the young Robert J. Flaherty in Port Arthur. His interests ranged from engineering, geology and exploration to big-game hunting, Italian Renaissance art and music, and his lodge on Loon Lake held a grand piano.[1]
