Frances Hubbard Flaherty was a writer and filmmaker, the wife and collaborator of Robert J. Flaherty. She met him in Houghton, Michigan, where her father was president of the Michigan School of Mines; they married in 1914 after a long engagement, and she worked on several of his films, receiving an Academy Award nomination for the story of Louisiana Story (1948).[1] A 1950 Port Arthur newspaper photo notice indexed as "Back in PA with husband" probably shows her on the couple's last visit to the Lakehead.
