Ernest Butcher (5 January 1895 – 7 December 1918 (aged 23)) was a Canadian soldier from Port Arthur in the Canadian Forestry Corps. Butcher died on active service during the First World War.[1]
Early life
Butcher was born in Port Arthur on 5 January 1895, the son of John William Butcher and Ellen Butcher.[1]
Service
Butcher enlisted at Port Arthur and served as a private (service number 1013559) in the Army, Canadian Forestry Corps (56th Coy.).[1]
Death
Butcher died on 7 December 1918, aged 23. He is commemorated at Charmes Military Cemetery (grave reference I. F. 3.).[1]
