He spent much of his career as a driver, working for Greyhound as a driver trainer and motor-coach operator. He also worked in the trucking industry, driving transport trucks and continuing to drive even after his initial retirement. He was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and enjoyed country music and fishing on his boat at the lake.[1]

He married his wife Diane in 1960. He was survived by her and their children Scott, Miles, and Shawna-Lee, along with their respective partners Lorre, Norma, and Mike. His legacy included grandchildren Kyle, Kristina, Julia, Brendan, Megan, Karley, Kendall, Marina, Darlene, Kayla, Wassnoode, and Elecktra, as well as great-grandchildren Carter, Lakelyn, Oliver, James, Teddi-Jane, and Lincoln. He was also survived by his brother Stanley. He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Norman, Robert, and Keith, and his mother-in-law Fran Bell.[1]

He died on April 10, 2025, while under the care of the staff and Dr. Skunta at Hogarth 2N. A celebration of life was scheduled for May 23, 2025, at the Slovak Legion Solarium on Atlantic Ave in Thunder Bay. Memorial donations were directed to the Salvation Army, Wesway, or Hogarth Riverview Manor.[1]
