Life and family

Domenic D'Uva was born in Castelpetroso, Campobasso, Italy, to Nicola and Angiolina D'Uva. At age two, he immigrated to Canada with his parents and older siblings, Tony and Julia. The family arrived at Pier 1 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, before settling in Fort William with relatives. He was later joined by a younger sister, Maria. He studied avionics at Con College while working part-time for Great Lakes Forest Products. Although offered work in Toronto, he remained in Thunder Bay to be near family. He began a full-time career with Great Lakes Forest Products in 1978 and earned a diploma in Instrumentation Technology. He worked as an instrumentation mechanic for the company until his retirement at age 57.[1]

He married Rosi in 1997. Together they had three children: Hannah, Sophia, and Nicholas. He was a devoted father who enjoyed camping, cycling, and traveling across Canada with his family. He resided in Port Arthur before moving to a country home outside of Thunder Bay for his retirement.[1]
