Charles Gomez (1 August 1951 – 24 October 2025 (aged 74)) was a Malaysia-born car detailing entrepreneur and chef who lived in Regina and Thunder Bay.[1][2]
Life and family
Charles Gomez was born in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, and spent his youth there before moving to Bombay, India, to study at the Ajanta Technical Institute, where he finished his program in 1972. He spent time traveling through Europe, including a stay in Switzerland with his sisters Mabel and Julia. He arrived in Canada in 1974, initially staying in Ottawa with his brother Alex.[1]
While working as a chef in Ottawa, he met Sylvia, who later became his wife. The couple moved to Regina, where he established a car detailing business called Sharpline. They later relocated to Thunder Bay to be closer to their relatives. In Thunder Bay, he continued his career in car detailing, where he was known by the nicknames Chuck and Chucky among his colleagues and friends.[1]
He was the father of three children, Cynthia, Angela, and Jonathan. He was known for his sense of humor and his active involvement in his children's lives, particularly supporting his son's hockey activities. He also supported his grandchildren Liam, Nicholas, and Joshua, including accompanying them on trips to Toronto.[1]
Charles Gomez died on October 24, 2025, at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. He was survived by his former wife Sylvia, his children, and his grandchildren. Funeral arrangements were handled by Everest Funeral Chapel.[1]
