Anni Endler (9 January 1927 – 28 July 2024 (aged 97)) was a Berlin-born farmer's wife who emigrated in 1955 with her three young children to join her husband Herbert in Fort William and later farmed near Kakabeka Falls.[1][2]
Life and family
Endler was born in Berlin on 9 January 1927 and was raised and educated there. At 28 she immigrated to Canada with three young children to join her husband Herbert, who had set up a home in Fort William. Soon afterwards they bought a property outside Kakabeka Falls and farmed it for many hard years.[1]
She was widowed at 61 and spent several years caring for her sister-in-law Helga and her family. She later lived in a Thunder Bay neighbourhood for another 19 years, where she enjoyed her yard, her birds and jigsaw puzzles with her grandson.[1] She died at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on 28 July 2024, aged 97, survived by her son Peter and daughter Irma, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her husband and two infant sons died before her.[1]
