- December 2021: The project involves a new double-circuit 230 kilovolt line between the Lakehead Transformer Station in the Municipality of Shuniah and Mackenzie TS in Atikokan. A single-circuit 230 kilovolt line is also planned to connect Mackenzie TS to Dryden TS in the City of Dryden. The project is being developed with Hydro One to meet growing electricity demands in the region.[2]
- April 2024: The project is the focus of the Chi Mino Ozhitoowin partnership to ensure collective First Nation benefits. Peter Collins discussed the project during a panel on Indigenous-led corridors at a Toronto forum.[3]
- September 2026: The project involves building two new 230-kilovolt transmission segments between Shuniah, Atikokan, and Dryden. It will add approximately 350 megawatts of transfer capacity to the regional power grid. Nine First Nation communities hold agreements for fifty percent equity ownership of the completed line.[1]
