Treaty

From thunderbay.wiki

Treaty is a formal agreement between nations.[1]

In Anishinabek News

  • October 2013: Joe Moses stated that the use of status cards is a right established through treaty and law.[2]
  • September 2016: Scott McLeod argued that these agreements did not grant Indigenous people rights, but rather granted privileges to the non-Indigenous population to share the land. The Chief noted that signing these agreements did not mean the First Nation gave up its sovereignty or its responsibility to manage resources.[1]
