Port Arthur Seniors
Port Arthur Seniors was the name used in Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame profiles for the senior men's hockey club of Port Arthur, Ontario (now part of Thunder Bay) that won the Allan Cup in 1925, 1926 and 1929.[1][2][3]
Allan Cup
| Season | Result | Season page |
|---|---|---|
| 1924–25 | Allan Cup champions | Port Arthur Seniors (1924–25) |
| 1925–26 | Allan Cup champions | Port Arthur Seniors (1925–26) |
| 1928–29 | Allan Cup champions | Port Arthur Seniors (1928–29) |
The profiles for these three seasons use the name "Seniors" only.[1]
Relationship to the Port Arthur Bearcats
Some later profiles connect the Seniors with the Port Arthur Bearcats. The 1938–39 profile, titled "Port Arthur Bearcats Senior Hockey", calls that season's Allan Cup "Port Arthur's fourth ever",[4] the 1974–75 Thunder Bay Twins profile credits the 1939 Allan Cup to "the Port Arthur Seniors",[5] and the 1987–88 Twins profile calls the Seniors the Twins' "forefathers" and counts four titles.[6] None of the sources says whether the Seniors of the 1920s and the Bearcats of the 1930s to 1960s were the same organisation, so the relationship between the two is not established here.
- Possibly the same as Port Arthur Bearcats; the Hall of Fame profiles count the Seniors' and the Bearcats' Allan Cup wins together, but they do not say the two were one club.
