Lorne Allard is a resident of Thunder Bay, Ontario, recognized for decades of youth coaching and community volunteerism.[1]
Community involvement
Beginning in the 1950s, Allard coached children in Thunder Bay across multiple sports, including hockey, football, little league baseball, boxing, and track and field.
Beyond coaching, Allard worked to establish recreational infrastructure throughout the city at no public expense. He coordinated donations of building materials from local supply companies and arranged for contractors to contribute their labour voluntarily, resulting in the construction of recreational buildings at several locations: Castlegreen, George Burke Park, Kinsmen Northwood Park, the Lakehead Canoe Club at Boulevard Lake, and Fisherman's Park at Current River.
Recognition
Allard received the Citizens of Exceptional Achievement Award in 2011 in the Spirit of Thunder Bay category.[2]
